Interview with Mihaela Dragan - Roma actress from Romania

Being close to Romanian National Day, I thought about offering you a different view regarding the country but also I want to show you a model, a woman that fights for her gender right and for Roma all over the world, she is an example of power and hard work and she managed to take part in creating Giuvlipen, the first Roma theatre company. I also tried to find out how Mihaela Draga feels about Romania and also which are her wishes regarding changes in the Romanian society. You have here a short interview, I really hope it will make a difference. Who was Mihaela Dragan as a little girl? Which is the memory that you feel the closest to your soul from your childhood? I grew up in the country side, with my grandparents. Our home was in the gispsy quarter, I mean in the suburban area where Roma were living. My parents were working in the city, they did not had time to nurture me and my sisters. The only image that I have when I think about “home” is my grandp...

Letter to Romania

Hello,  I am Bogdan, i am 26 years old and i am Roma. Most probably you don't know me in person because you already consider that we are too much people of my ethnicity in your teritory. So you chose to stigmatize us and putting us in difficult situations. Even though we are here for more than 500 years and we are the biggest minority in Romania, everything that you do is considering my people the worst thing in the world. You really like to change reality and disimulate it with the help of mass-media, you really know how to influence public opinion in such a manner that romanian people hate all of us without wanting to know just one person, not more than that. 10 years ago, when i was just an adolescent, learning in one of the best highschools in Romania, when you wanted to reach European Union, you managed to dribble their requests regarding my people. You showed projects for social inclusion which did not took place, you promised jobs for them, also the right to a ...
